All About Me

Hello! My name is Mrs. Burns, and I am a 3rd grade math and science teacher.

In 3rd grade, we learn lots of new concepts. We work hard, but we play hard, too! In 3rd grade math we learn all about multiplication, division, and fractions. In 3rd grade science we learn all about energy, magnets, animal adaptations, and more! I am so excited to have you in my class. We are going to have a great year!

Here are a few things about my teaching career. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Trevecca Nazarene University. I have been teaching for 10 years. I taught 1st Grade for 5 years and I have been teaching 3rd grade for 5 years. This is my 5th year teaching here at Hickman Elementary School. I really enjoy teaching here at Hickman. I was even voted the 2024 teacher of the year!

Here are a few things about my life outside of the classroom. I have lived here in Middle Tennessee most of my life and I am proud to call Nashville home. When I am not at school, you may see me at a Nashville Predators Hockey Game, playing with my dog, or spending time with my friends and family. I am currently working on my master's degree in library sciences at Middle Tennessee State University.
